Yucky February

February has really been just a yucky month.  The weather turned cold and rainy for days at a time around the end of January and just followed right into February.  As a result, we have spent an unfortunate amount of time inside.  We are lucky to live where we do, because there are lots of indoor places to visit and play, and boy did we visit them!

When we have been homebound, we have had lots of fun, though.  Especially on library days.  Both girls love visiting the library.  Paige even says an approximation of the word: bye-bear. Or something like that...
Once we get home, the books inevitable end up strewn across the floor. As long as it's done in love, I don't mind!

We must have spent half the month reading. Even when I'm busy, it seems like they end up with a book!  Paige brought the blanket over and went "night-night", so Charlotte picked out a bedtime story for her.  (I'm not making that up, she actually said that!)

So, Koby left to go swimming and when Charlotte noticed he was gone, she asked, "Where's my dad?" in a semi-panicked voice.  I told her and she went off to pout in our blanket basket.  When I asked her what she was doing, she said in the most pitiful voice, "I just miss my dad." This pouting session lasted for a good couple of minutes, until Paige came looking for sister.  After that, it was all smiles. And a new and lasting game was born, hide-and-seek in the basket.  (She never hides anywhere else, just in the basket...)

There has been some dress-up glam time, which usually ends in tears because heels are so darn hard to walk in.  Doesn't seem to stop her from going back to them each time, though, so...

On one of the few nice days in the month, we went to a friend's birthday party and brought home a favor bag.  A few days later, a lollipop was discovered. I love the look on Paige's face in this picture - she has never had a lollipop before, but she is grinning and tracking that thing the entire time Charlotte is holding it.  How do they know it's candy before they even try it??  Amazing. Anyways, Paige is a smartie and got control of the lollipop as soon as Charlotte gave her the chance.  I didn't get a picture of it because I was laughing too hard, but Paige took off walking as fast as she could once she had the lollipop.  I don't think sweet Charlotte realized her little sister had no intention of giving it back!

Pictures of the new-and-improved version of hide-and-seek in the basket.  She covers herself with the blanket and just waits until someone comes along.  Then she pounces!

January

I am obviously running behind on the blog, posting Christmas in February.  In the name of quickness, I'm going to summarize the first half of January in pictures.

Nails by daddy.  Look at them concentrating!

Charlotte directing the painting.

Remember how Paige liked to walk around with her Christmas harmonica?  Well, she still does.  Even when she's crying and throwing a fit.  When the harmonica starts to fall out, she just pushes it back in and keeps on blowing/crying.

Dress up time!

A fort of tunnels on a rainy, cold day.

Singing into her microphone, a.k.a the dustpan.

Paige is really into headbands and puts them on herself any time she finds one on the ground.  Lookin' good!

Little princesses

Right before the new year started, we had some fun times with baby Sarita and baby Ellie.  (I don't know if Sarita still qualifies as a baby, but that's what Charlotte calls her!)  Us mommies dressed up the girls in these cute costumes Miss Brandi got in New Orleans.  That's a lot of pink!

Christmas

I don't have many pictures to show for Christmas this year.  We had lots of fun, just without a camera at hand.

In San Marcos, it was a typical gift opening - Paige wanted to play with the boxes the presents came in more than the toys inside.  Charlotte got her first Barbie. Paige got her first harmonica, which she clamped in her teeth and walked around blowing on for the rest of the weekend.  All in all, happy girls!

I have even less pictures of Christmas at the lake, just these two of Gigi and D with the grandkids.  There was lots of present-opening spread out over the several days we were there.  The last weekend there, we attended the very beautiful wedding of Hannah Mayfield (now Hannah Bean). The girls stayed with the first out-of-family babysitter ever, whew!
