Bunny birthday, part one

Paige decided about 5 months ago that she wanted a bunny birthday this year, and never once did she change her mind.  So we've known for quite a while what the day was going to look like - just our family, a few bunny decorations, birthday pancakes, and then do what she felt like doing for the rest of the day (since her birthday was on a Sunday).

I happened to mention that she requested a bunny birthday to my next-door neighbor, a 6th grade science teacher.  She promptly pulled out her phone, said, "Hold on," and texted someone.  Who apparently was in charge of the rabbits at her school.  Oh yes.

We got to borrow three baby bunnies for the weekend!

Of course, we didn't mention this to the girls.  The night before Paige's birthday, we had them sit together in front of the fireplace and told them we had a birthday surprise for Paige, which of course got them so hyper (and happy).  We did NOT tell them to sit together like that, promise! They just did it because they are goofy.

We broke up the potential fight over Bunny, then carried the cage in to where they were waiting. Paige hardly reacted!!  She just had this saintly smile on her face.

Finally!  We got some sort of reaction out of her!  I think it just took that long for her to understand what exactly she was looking at.  Then she was full of energy.  She went to tell Jacob all about her birthday bunnies!

They could not pull themselves away from the bunnies!  They even insisted on eating next to them!

After Paige had her food, she sang to the bunnies.  (Don't you just love it???)

Then she showed them her Bunny.

Then Bunny saw the bunnies.

Obviously, they were a hit!

This is the group picture for Gigi we managed to get.  It melted down so quickly, which isn't funny, but boy, Paige's face sure is!! We bribed the kids with Nilla Wafers - notice Charlotte doesn't stop looking at the camera, even as Jacob is dive-bombing away from her.  She has her goal in mind!
