We got a third camping trip under our belts this April, and it went really well (for the most part). I think we've got a pretty good rhythm down, at least for the age of the kids right now - arrive after lunch Friday, spend the night, stay allllll Saturday long, and when the girlies are ready to go to bed, we drive home! double nighters, at least not yet.
Actually, we won't do double nighters for quite a while, because, surprise, we are pregnant again! That's right, a third West is on the way, due at the end of September. On the camping trip, I was about 14 weeks along (you'll notice a tummy about halfway through the photos, in our family picture on a hike). Now I am 18 weeks and have a MUCH more noticeable bump! As of now, the plan is to wait until little baby West comes out to be surprised by boy or girl, but we do have an ultrasound coming up, so we'll see if it proves too tempting to find out.
Anyways, back to the camping trip, we all had a lot of fun. The kids had the run of the camp while the grown ups set up.
After some fun horsey rides from Daddy, we visited the playground, then went exploring and found a dock.
After a slightly rough night, we woke up to a very chilly morning, hence the campfire in the a.m. We adults enjoyed a slow morning, the kids hooked together all the bungee cords to make a "snake", and then we all took a mid-day hike.
Ok, here's the baby belly shot:
Paige really liked walking on her own, but she REALLY lingered behind the rest of the group. Mostly because she wanted to sit down and play in the dirt. Did I mention she loves her sandbox at home?
She wasn't the only one who enjoyed the dirt, though. Towards the end of the hike, the kiddos got a bit tired and decided to take a break right smack in the middle of the trail.
The guys took the little ones for one last hike right before dinner, and that's pretty much the end of our third family camping trip!
