Baby #3 is growing superbly. So far, everything has checked out normally. We had our 20 week ultrasound, which is when you typically find out gender, and everything looked great. There were some little cysts on the brain (which Paige had as well), but an ultrasound at 24 weeks showed they had all closed up on their own, which is what they typically do.
We have had a lot of fun with the ultrasounds and "not finding out" and I figured I'd better write down what happened now, or two years from now when I've got three little banshees running around, I'll never remember, never mind 20 years from now!
Since this baby will be a repeat C-section (both Charlotte and Paige's labors ended in C-sections) and we'll know down to the hour when the baby will be born, I thought it would be fun to at least have the surprise of gender waiting for us. Koby wasn't thrilled about the idea, but agreed (and has since made me wait when I changed my mind and wanted to find out!), so that's been the plan - to not find out what we're having.
During the first ultrasound, we had the girls with us and they ended up running around in small circles and playing together like 5 minutes after the ultrasound started. When it came time to measure the femur and the tech was going to be in "the area", she told us to look away and so we did. She showed us some more stuff, then it was time to check the umbilical cord, so she told us to look away again. Well, I did, but Koby was getting on to the girls for getting to feisty while they were playing and he didn't hear the tech. So he finished disciplining the girls and promptly looks back at the screen.
He told me later, as we were walking to the car, what happened and said he was pretty sure we're having a boy! So moral of the story: if we end up with a boy, Koby knew it first. If it's a girl, Koby doesn't know how to read a sonogram at all!

Now, don't think that the story ends there. All of that happened at the 20 week ultrasound. We were asked to come back in 4 weeks to have a repeat sonogram, and this time, we were VERY careful not to look at the screen. Too bad the tech wasn't as careful!
Everything looked great on the ultrasound, and the girls behaved terrifically, so at the end, we were just kinda watching the baby, looking at random stuff. We were checking out the face when the tech goes, "Awww, look! She stuck out her tongue! Did you see?" Well, of course, no one said anything about the slip, and I'm not sure she even noticed, but boy, Koby and I sure did!
We got to the regular doctor's office and immediately discussed what we thought it meant. Are we really having a girl? Or was her mouth so used to saying "she" from talking about Charlotte and Paige that it just substituted it in there for the new baby? I guess we'll find out in a couple of months!
