First day of school
We all woke up bright and early to get ready to take Charlotte to her first day of school. Paige took it very seriously - she worked so hard to get ready at the same time as big sister!
I told Charlotte I wanted to take a picture of her fully dressed and this was her idea of a "pose" - goofy fake...smile? or wide open arms. Gotta love it! Of course, Paige wanted to be in the picture as well. She was totally serious, but had a serious thing going on with a toy grilled cheese sandwich as well. I didn't even notice it at first; it was when she took a huge "bite" that I saw it. So silly! So I laughed and she offered me some.
One more pose, then we got brother ready. While we were occupied, the girls played some piano and sang at the top of their lungs. It wasn't a quiet morning, but it was very happy. Maybe peace doesn't always involve quiet tones?
Ready to go! And what a natural pose... Charlotte got angry when I told her to wait so that everyone could come take a picture. She was ready to go!
Walking up to the school; she walked alone at first, but the closer we got, she reached up for Daddy's hand.
Calling me to come into her classroom - she got worried I was coming! Once she realized I just stopped for a picture, she was fine. She sat down and began coloring.
We kept telling Paige to go give her a hug goodbye, but she wouldn't, so we started to leave and Paige broke out in tears because she hadn't given her sister a kiss. She ran over, said bye, and came back beaming and ready to go.
It was a very strange day, not to have Charlotte with us. We took Paige and Jacob to the Children's Museum and they had a blast, but it was...deflated? for me. There was such an absence. It makes me very glad she's only gone two days a week!
